Jeffrey Ward — Principal
Jeffrey Ward is a dynamic, compelling, Washington, D.C.-based executive coach and organizational development consultant with twenty years’ experience in international management, consulting, marketing, sales, leadership training, and executive coaching.
He holds a BA in political science and German from Austin College, and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Mr. Ward is a Professional Certified Coach, and has served on the faculty of the Coaches Training Institute. He recently completed work on the planning committee of the Executive Coaching Summit, an annual think tank of the world’s leading executive coaches, and he is a trustee of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
Throughout his career in high technology and the airline industry in North America and Europe, Mr. Ward held a progression of IT, training, sales and marketing positions, leading and managing small and large teams. He served as the managing director in Canada for Canadian Airlines and American Airlines, where he and his team were responsible for over $800 million in annual revenue. His final assignment in the corporate world was as the American Airlines representative to the oneworld™ Alliance at British Airways world headquarters in London.
Since founding Northward Leadership and Development in 2001, Mr. Ward has developed a thriving practice, coaching teams, executives and other professionals from major airlines, the US federal government, banks, consulting firms, telecom, advertising agencies, law firms, independent entrepreneurial companies, and many more. His client base lives and works on four continents.
Jeff has proven success in motivating those around him to improve performance, navigate careers, achieve greater life balance, and become more effective leaders. His coaching style is best described as dynamic, engaging, thorough, fun and always very rigorous! He is especially gifted at helping both his individual and team clients articulate a distinct “road map” in order to achieve a singular life, career or professional vision.
He speaks German fluently and enjoys traveling for business and for pleasure. When not working, he loves to hang with his family and dog at his home in urban Washington, DC or at his mountain retreat in rural West Virginia.
